Michael Jay Rune II Earns Circuit Mediator Certification From Supreme Court of Florida
Miami, Fla. – Carlton Fields is pleased to announce that Miami Shareholder Michael Jay Rune II earned his circuit mediator certification from the Supreme Court of Florida.
According to The Florida Dispute Resolution Center, there are only 3,144 certified circuit mediators. Mediators must adhere to the highest ethical standards, including honoring their right of self-determination; acting with impartiality; and avoiding coercion, improper influence, and conflicts of interest. A mediator is also responsible for maintaining an appropriate demeanor, preserving confidentiality, and promoting the awareness by the parties of the interests of non-participating persons. A mediator’s business practices should reflect fairness, integrity, and impartiality. Carlton Fields has 10 additional attorneys who are certified mediators in the state of Florida.
Rune has more than 25 years of experience representing owner/developers, condominium associations, contractors, sureties, subcontractors, and suppliers in nearly all aspects of the construction industry and in large-scale commercial construction projects. He has handled construction, surety, fidelity, and related insurance matters as well as mortgage fraud recovery through mediation, arbitration, and litigation in state and federal courts. In addition to the more traditional construction disputes, including defect and delay claims, Rune has also represented clients in crane, scaffolding, and structural collapse cases throughout the state of Florida.
Rune received his J.D. from the Samford University Cumberland School of Law and his B.S. from the University of Texas at Austin. He is board certified in Construction Law by The Florida Bar.
