Mark Neubauer Named to Daily Journal’s 2026 Top 100 Lawyers
Los Angeles, CA – Carlton Fields Los Angeles office managing shareholder Mark Neubauer was named to the Daily Journal’s 2026 “Top 100 Lawyers and Distinguished Counsel” list. This annual list recognizes California's most accomplished attorneys, whose work has shaped their clients, their practices and the legal profession itself.
Throughout almost a half-century of practice, Neubauer has achieved key litigation victories for some of the world’s most well-known companies, protecting them from multimillion-dollar claims. He recently led the defense of Hartford's Twin City Fire Insurance Co. against a $49 million excess insurance bad-faith claim. He was brought in on short notice to handle the case, which has more than 40 depositions and 15 years of history from earlier proceedings. After a three-week trial, the jury returned a 10-2 defense verdict. Neubauer has also successfully defended Johnson & Johnson Consumer Inc. in multiple nationwide class actions over Tylenol "Rapid Release" gelcaps. One of those wins was recently affirmed in the first appellate decision to address preemption for this type of advertising claim.
In the community, Neubauer has applied his litigation skills to pro bono matters with lasting, positive impact on Californians who could not otherwise seek justice. He was part of the team behind Cruz v. California, a pro bono case that led to the passage of Assembly Bill 1012. The work earned him the ACLU's Pro Bono Lawyer of the Year award and Public Counsel's Award for Impact Litigation.
As managing shareholder of Carlton Fields' Los Angeles office, Neubauer has made mentorship a priority, including as a longtime faculty member for the ABA's Trial College. He is senior editor of the ABA Litigation Section's Litigation Journal and co-chair of its Communications Committee. He was also recently named to the Central District of California's Magistrate Judge Merit Selection Panel.
