MIAMI, FL – Carlton Fields has named Amy Furness co-managing shareholder of the firm’s Miami office.
“Amy is a trusted partner, and I am excited to have her back at the helm alongside me,” said Steven Brodie, co-managing shareholder of the firm’s Miami office. “Her leadership will continue to be an invaluable asset, driving the success and growth of our Miami office, the firm, and our clients.”
Furness served as co-managing shareholder of the Miami office from 2015 to 2023 before taking a short sabbatical to serve as chair of the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce. She is a trial lawyer who has dedicated her career to defending diverse clients, including both domestic and foreign corporations, in complex civil litigation, particularly product liability and commercial litigation. She defends product manufacturers in all forms of cases in the pharmaceutical, aviation, chemical, tobacco, and consumer product industries. In addition to her extensive pharmaceutical and medical device litigation defense experience, she has defended manufacturers of cigarettes, yacht engines, automobile and aircraft engines, and propane tanks.
“Carlton Fields is known for its world-class lawyers, a collegial firm culture, and a deep commitment to client service. I am excited to rejoin Steve to lead an office with colleagues committed to these principles and a passion for the greater Miami community,” said Furness.
Carlton Fields opened its Miami office in 1997 and offers a full range of legal services to clients across a wide variety of practices and industries. In Miami, the firm’s lawyers handle matters involving litigation, class action defense, high-stakes appeals, white collar crime, insurance, and sophisticated business transactions. Its location in the gateway to Latin America is especially beneficial as the firm provides corporate counseling for domestic and international clients.
