Gwynne Young Receives Mentoring Award From Hillsborough County Bar Association

TAMPA, FL – Carlton Fields’ Gwynne Young received the 2024 Margaret D. Mathews Mentoring Award from the Hillsborough County Bar Association. She was recognized at the 27th Annual HCBA Bench Bar Conference on November 14.

The award recognizes an individual who has achieved excellence in his or her own career, demonstrates a commitment to the advancement of young lawyers, serves as a mentor to lawyers, creates opportunities for them to excel personally and professionally, and who encourages meaningful involvement in the Tampa Bay community.

Young has mentored numerous young lawyers, particularly women, some of whom became members of the judiciary. Young was the first woman to serve as an assistant state attorney in Hillsborough County, and through her example, she has influenced other women to pursue legal careers and assume bar association leadership roles. During her time as president of the Florida Bar, Young made diversity in the legal profession her top priority, creating the Standing Committee on Diversity and Inclusion.
