In Memoriam – Joan K. Archer
We are deeply saddened by the loss of our colleague and friend, Joan Archer.
Joan joined our Los Angeles office in 2023 and, in a short time, made a meaningful impact through her kindness, professionalism, and collaborative spirit, and quickly became a cherished colleague and friend. In her practice, she was an outstanding trial attorney and a vigorous advocate for our clients.
For over 25 years, Joan was a trusted adviser in intellectual property portfolio development, complex litigation, and strategic business counsel covering a wide range of areas, including global data privacy, trade secret protection, and cross-border compliance, with a strong focus on complex technology and licensing agreements. Her professional passion was for agricultural technology, and before joining Carlton Fields, Joan had served as general counsel for an agtech startup turned public company division, where she played a pivotal role in driving IP growth and navigating high-stakes litigation.
Beyond her professional contributions, Joan will be remembered for her kindness, sincerity, and integrity. She will be greatly missed.
