An experienced lawyer, Alon Lagstein is dedicated to representing developers, investors, borrowers, lenders, tenants, and landlords in real estate matters, including acquisitions, sales, leases, financings, and joint ventures. He represents a wide range of clients, including project sponsors, private equity firms, family offices, and financial institutions. With vast institutional knowledge earned over years at both international firms and boutiques, Alon is able to provide efficient and effective representation on matters large and small regardless of industry.
A self-proclaimed deal enthusiast, Alon is passionate about helping navigate clients through changing real estate needs and evolving market dynamics. His practical approach is informed by deep market knowledge and hands-on experience as a California-licensed real estate broker and private investor.
Born and raised in the entertainment mecca of Las Vegas, before law school, Alon pursued a career as a professional actor in Los Angeles, with appearances in films such as “You Don’t Mess with the Zohan,” television series including “Undercovers” and “The Event,” and commercials for Bank of America and Coors.
Experience
- Represented a developer in connection with a $140 million construction loan for the development of the largest modular project in North America, consisting of more than 300 factory-built apartments and 100,000 square feet of retail space.
- Represented an investor group including singer-songwriter John Mayer and director and producer McG (credits include Terminator: Salvation, Charlie’s Angels, Supernatural, and the OC) in connection with the acquisition and leaseback of the historic Jim Henson Company lot in Hollywood, and the accompanying debt and equity financing and joint venture.
- Represented a construction lender in a $44 million cross-collateralized loan to a developer for the construction of high-end apartment communities in Santa Monica, California.
- Represented a retail operator in the acquisition and financing and disposition of hundreds of millions of dollars in regional shopping centers throughout the southwestern United States.
- Represented the buyer in the purchase of a $300 million Silicon Valley tech campus.
- Represented the seller and tenant in a sale-leaseback of a $120 million office building.
- Represents high-profile and high net worth individuals in connection with the purchase, sale, and development of high-end residential real estate.
- Represented a ghost kitchen startup in connection with its national expansion, including leases in industrial, retail, and mixed-use properties.
- Represented the owner of a contaminated industrial property in connection with a lease termination and settlement agreement with a polluting tenant and the negotiation of an environmental insurance policy.
- Represented the borrower in the refinancing of a $40 million loan secured by a mobile home park.
- Represented a national restaurant brand in connection with license agreements with a ghost kitchen.
- Represents a family office in connection with the leasing of its industrial portfolio.
- Represents both landlords and tenants across all asset types in connection with lease workouts during the COVID-19 pandemic.
- Represented and advised one of the largest pension funds in the United States in connection with leasing matters across its national office, retail, and industrial portfolio.
