The Tampa Bay Business Journal quoted Coy Stull in an article titled “Crystal Lagoon Creators Allege Local Licensees Stole Its Proprietary Technology.” The article discusses a recent IP lawsuit in which the defendants claim that the plaintiff stole knowledge of technology classified as confidential information, and are using it to solicit customers of their own.
“Technology companies can either protect their IP through patents, trade secrets, or a mix. Patents have to be approved by an application process and are covered for 20 years. Trade secrets are covered in perpetuity as long as the trade secrets remain secret,” said Stull.
