2025 Class Action Survey, Matt Allen Featured in Litigation Daily: “With Class Action Defense Panels Shrinking and More Clients Turning to One Lead Firm, a Look at Winners and Losers”

The Carlton Fields 2025 Class Action Survey was featured in a Litigation Daily article titled “With Class Action Defense Panels Shrinking and More Clients Turning to One Lead Firm, a Look at Winners and Losers.” A follow-up to a previous article on the survey results, this piece focuses on another of the survey’s findings: companies have been concentrating their class action work into fewer firms’ hands, as well as consolidating strategic decision-making.

“If you're a law firm that's included in the mix either as the supervisory counsel or the smaller group of retained firms, hey, good for you. You're in the sweet spot, right?” said Allen. But for firms that find themselves on the outside looking in, Allen said it’s important to think about how to improve your chances of getting into the mix. “I think the firms that are included and excluded are not static,” he said. “At least in my personal experience, there's always an opportunity to break in, if you're not on the inside for a particular client, if you're innovative and have the right strategy.”
