Carlton Fields Adds Cybersecurity and Privacy Attorney Patricia M. Carreiro in Miami

Miami, Fla.Carlton Fields is pleased to announce its continued expansion of its Cybersecurity and Privacy Practice with the addition of attorney Patricia M. Carreiro, a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US). She joins the firm’s Miami office as an associate. The firm also recently welcomed an influential cybersecurity and privacy law shareholder, Christina M. Gagnier, in its Los Angeles office.

Carreiro advises clients on data breach prevention and response, as well as compliance with privacy laws and regulations, such as the California Consumer Privacy Act. In particular, Carreiro bolsters the firm’s national practices in insurance and health care by using her experience in those industries to counsel firm clients in cybersecurity and privacy matters. Carreiro is CIPP/US accredited by the International Association of Privacy Professionals and experienced in high-stakes litigation. She has also handled complex commercial litigation involving financial instruments, contracts, insurance disputes, and antitrust law. Carreiro is a frequent speaker and author on cybersecurity, privacy, and insurance issues. Her insights have been featured in publications including Corporate Counsel, The Cybersecurity Law Report, Data Breach Today, Fierce Healthcare, Health IT Security, Healthcare Infosecurity, InsideCounsel, Law360, Law.com, and Today’s General Counsel.

Her prior experience includes time with the U.S. Department of Justice Criminal Division’s Fraud Section, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission Division of Enforcement, the New York State Attorney General’s Medicaid Fraud Unit, and the Connecticut Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities. She is proficient in Spanish and Portuguese. She earned her J.D. from New York University School of Law and her B.A. with highest distinction from Duke University.
