Leading First Amendment Litigator Jonathan Ginsberg Joins Carlton Fields’ Business Litigation Practice
NEW YORK, NY – Jonathan Ginsberg has joined Carlton Fields’ national Business Litigation Practice as a shareholder in the firm’s New York office. He was most recently a partner at Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner.
Ginsberg has more than a decade of experience handling complex litigation, with a focus on business and commercial disputes and First Amendment litigation. His First Amendment practice includes significant experience representing news publishers and media organizations in federal courts across the country, often in cases involving access to government and judicial records. He also advises clients in connection with section 230 of the Communications Decency Act and other content-related issues.
“We are thrilled to welcome Jon to the firm,” said Donald Kirk, co-chair of the firm’s Business Litigation Practice. “His extensive and wide-ranging experience in business and commercial litigation will be of immediate value to the firm and our clients.” Added Michael Hensley, co-chair of the Business Litigation Practice, “With First Amendment and freedom of the press issues in particular likely to see intense scrutiny in the coming years, Jon’s experience is more relevant than ever in this important constitutional issue.”
In his commercial litigation practice, Ginsberg advises a diverse range of clients — including hotel owners and operators, financial institutions, real estate developers, national retailers, and startups — on matters involving contract disputes, real estate issues, and other business-related claims. His work has also included cases involving employment discrimination, mass torts, insurance fraud, and product liability. Committed to pro bono work, Ginsberg has successfully represented asylum seekers, including obtaining asylum for two Syrian refugees and one Honduran refugee.
“The firm’s culture is what really drew me to Carlton Fields,” said Ginsberg. “Beyond that, the firm’s national platform and strong reputation in the industry will allow me to continue serving my clients and focus on growing my practice.”
Ginsberg obtained his J.D. from Cardozo School of Law and a B.A. from Emory University.
