Seasoned Insurance & Reinsurance Attorney Christopher Ash Joins Carlton Fields

NEW YORK, NY – Christopher Ash has joined Carlton Fields’ Property and Casualty Insurance Practice as senior insurance counsel in the firm’s New York office. He was most recently a partner at Sanitas Law Group.

Ash is a litigator with more than 30 years of experience representing clients in a wide range of insurance and reinsurance disputes. His work in insurance and reinsurance, which has been a core part of his practice since the mid-1990s, reflects broad experience across all facets of the industry — from defense to coverage to reinsurance — and includes high-profile matters such as asbestos and environmental claims, the Enron collapse, major catastrophes, COVID-related litigation, and the World Trade Center attacks.

“We are excited to welcome Chris to the firm,” said Jeanne Kohler, Carlton Fields New York office managing shareholder. “His ability to quickly identify key legal and strategic issues and develop practical, results-oriented solutions will be of immediate value to our clients.”

“Chris is a known commodity in the insurance and reinsurance space. He brings years of experience and expertise in areas key to our national coverage, litigation, and dispute resolution practice. We are thrilled Chris is now part of our team,” added practice co-chair Robert DiUbaldo.

Throughout his career, Ash has practiced at both large firms on the East Coast and smaller practices in the Mountain West. Before joining Carlton Fields, he led a litigation and real estate-focused boutique law firm for nearly two decades and performed contract work for large firms in New York City. His work has spanned commercial torts, noncompete and trade secret enforcement, insurance coverage and reinsurance disputes, landlord-tenant matters, and both plaintiff- and defense-side personal injury litigation. Ash has also advised small and midsize businesses on contract and real estate issues and represented individual clients in a variety of civil claims.

“Carlton Fields offers a substantial platform that aligns with the direction I want to take my practice,” said Ash. “I’ve known members of this firm for upwards of 20 years, and I’ve always been impressed with what I’ve seen. I know that my practice and my clients will continue to thrive here.”

Ash obtained his J.D. from Rutgers Law School and a B.A. from the University of Delaware.
